In 1995 the Local 26 Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee saw the need to upgrade and add new state of the art training equipment to its main training facility located at 6200 Kansas Ave. N.E., Washington D.C. With the help of many generous suppliers and vendors of the electrical and telecommunication industries the committee now has a training facility that is able to produce electricians and telecommunication technicians fully equipped with the skills to be productive in today's marketplace.
All of these labs are utilized in our Day School Apprenticeship Program to give apprentices hands on training on some of the latest equipment utilized in the electrical field. This hands-on-training is an excellent way to reinforce the theory aspects of the trade that they learn in the classroom. Any individuals who have completed one of our training programs have the opportunity, as dues paying members of Local 26, to participate in our Journeyman Skill Improvement classes. These classes are offered both Fall and Spring Semesters. While enrolled in a class of their choice, individuals are exposed to training equipment in these labs. This is a tremendous way for individuals to update their skills and knowledge and remain atop the latest technology in a constantly changing, high tech industry.
