1) How do I go around getting my first job? She gave me the hot line number, but what do I exactly ask them, or tell them?

2) What tools/clothes would I need to do these jobs? Is there certain clothes that I need to wear to work or is anything okay. Also is there a tool list that I will need being a R1, or will they be supplied until I reach a higher rank?

3) Living in Saint Marys County, do I get jobs closer to me then other places, Do I get to choose which jobs I want or not want?

4) In my On-The-Job Training Assignment papers, it says in number 6 that if I desire on the job training assignments on any given day, I would have to be physically present and sign the day book between 7:30 and 8:30 at Lanham Maryland... can someone explain that to me, I would love as much training as I can get... To calm my nerves about working a new job.

1. Call the hotline daily to see if there are any jobs in your classification (R1 or R2), If your number is in the top 10 you have to report to the training center for a job referral, if it is not in the top 10 and jobs are avaiable you can still come in and hope to get one of the available jobs.
2. Proper clothing would be jeans and a T-shirt and work boots. You are responsible to provide your own tools from the tool list that is negotiated with the employers. You can get the tool list at the training center.
3.You can expect to work anywhere in the greater Washington DC metro area, wherever work is available.
4. "on the job training assignments" are the actual job you will be assigned to. To get an assignment you need to come by the training center in Lanham.

Is Lanham, MD the only center where an apprentice reports for a job assignment? I live in Fairfax County, and was planning to put my application in at the Annandale office once I get all of my required paperwork together.

Ok, so I'm finally in the top 10 of the training program and I'm super excited in fact the only thing that would be even better is the "A" program. So I have a few questions about this.

My number seems to be at the bottom of the top ten. So is it mandatory for me to show up everyday when there is a call for my classification? I was told that if there is a call for the 2 guys infront of me and their absent it would skip them and come to me. However if I'm also absent given the fact the needed to 2 and I was 3rd it would also skip me. I'm just a little confuse.

Also,I was told i should dress for work whenever I show up because I will be put to work immediately. Does this mean that the JATC will provide transportation to the training area?

Thanks in advance for your time.

If you are in the top 10 and there are jobs available for your classification you must be present.
If you receive an assignment, you will probably begin first thing the next morning. Transportation is not provided by the JATC, you are required to provide your own transportation.

When you say "classification" do you mean R1 and R2 has the same classification or are they different? Both R1 and R2 count off the same numbers. So if I'm R1 could I replace an R2 if there is none available and I'm present?
